Hotkeys

In this section you can bind your hotkeys. Click on the corresponding square to set the desired hotkey.

Abilities


Default
1 2 3 4 5 U

1 2 3 are a hero`s basic abilities. Other abilities such as sub-abilities and innate abilities populate slots 4 and 5. The U slot is for Ultimate abilities.

Checking the Enable Quickcast box allows you to flag which abilities have Quickcast on.

Checking the Unit Specific Hotkeys box allows you to set unique hotkeys per unit. In addition to Heroes, this includes the Courier and Neutral Creeps.

Courier

Neutrals

Neutral units can only have 4 abilities.

Advanced Hotkeys


Click on ⃢₆ₓ To Advanced Hotkeys ⃢₆ₓ to view the advanced menu.

Checking the Enable Advanced Quickcast/Autocast Hotkeys box enables 3 tabs for ability hotkeys. The tabs are Cast/Quickcast/Autocast and it allows for separate keys to be bound to each function for the same ability.

  • Cast
For casting spells normally which requires clicking after activating the cursor.
  • Quickcast
For casting spells quickly. When the hotkey is pressed, the spell is immediately cast at the cursor`s current location without requiring a click.
  • Autocast
For setting a spell to automatically cast itself. Only a few spells have this option.

  • Cast

Unit Actions


Select Hero
Select your Hero.
Select All Controlled Units
Select all units under your control.
Attack Move / Force Attack
Move to a location but attack any enemy unit you see on the way / Attack a friendly unit if it is deniable.
Hold Position
Interrupt your current action and hold your position.

Advanced Unit Actions


Move
Move to a location, or follow a unit without attacking it.
Directional Move
Move without pathing, stopping upon collision. Makes a complete turn before moving.
Patrol
Add a patrol waypoint.
Cancel Current Action
Stop your current action.
Select All Other Units
Select all other units you control. (Your hero will not be selected.)
Activate Glyph
Activates the Glyph of Fortification to make your buildings invulnerable.
Activate Scan
Activate Scan on the selected area.
Taunt Item
Use your Hero Taunt. Available as an equippable item.
Action Item
Use Action Item.
Toggle Autoattack
Toggles autoattack between the current setting and off.

Shop Actions


Select Courier
Selects the Courier.
Courier Deliver Items
Have the Courier deliver the items from your stash to you.
Purchase Quickbuy
Purchase the next item in your Quickbuy area if you can afford it.

Advanced Shop Actions


Courier Speed Burst
Activate a speed boost on your courier when available.
Purchase Sticky
Purchase the item that is in the Sticky area if you can afford it.
Take Stash Items
Transfer all items from your Stash to your hero if within range.
Open Shop
Open the Shop Panel.

Chat


Display Steam messages as whispers
Show steam chat in the game chat as whispers.
Channel messages appear in other channel tabs
Allows the option to make a chat channel`s messages global, being displayed even when in other chat channels.

Interface


Holding ALT Highlights Hero
Displays a large green arrow above your hero when Alt is held down.
Holding ALT Shows Neutral Spawnboxes
Displays yellow spawn boxes.
Holding ALT Shows Tower Attack Range
Displays red attack ranges.
Show Ability Rangefinder While Casting
Displays the rangefinder. It is a green arrow on the ground which displays whether the cursor is in range to cast the spell or not. The rangefinder is disabled for most blink spells.
Show Player Names Over Healthbar
Shows the player usernames above their health bar.
Show Hitpoints Over Healthbar
Shows your current hp above your health bar.
Colorblind Mode
Changes the colors of certain HUD elements to be visible to the color blind.
Differentiate Ally Healthbars
Allies have yellow healthbars instead of green ones.

Control Groups


Bind a group of units to a hotkey.

Next Unit
Cycle to the next unit in a selected group.
Prev Unit
Cycle to the previous unit in a selected group.
Group 1-4
Select a preset control group of units. To define a control group, select the desired units and hold Ctrl + one of these group hotkeys.

Set additional control groups.

Camera Actions


Set hotkeys for controlling the game camera.

Camera Up
Camera movement direction.
Camera Down
Camera movement direction.
Camera Left
Camera movement direction.
Camera Right
Camera movement direction.
Camera Zoom In
Zoom in.
Camera Zoom Out
Zoom out.
Show Recent Event
Move the camera to the most recent event.
Showcase View
View a unit from an up-close perspective.

Saved Camera Positions


Position 1-10
Save up to 10 different camera positions on the map.

Advanced Hotkey Options


Quickcast On Key Down
Quickcast occurs when the key is pressed down instead of when the key is released up.
Double Tap Ability to Self Cast
Double tapping the hotkey or double clicking will cast the ability on yourself.
Smart Double Tap
Pressing alt plus a hotkey will attempt to self cast if possible.
Shop Always Uses Hotkeys
When the shop is open the shop hotkeys will override all other keys.
Left-Click Activates Camera Grip
In addition to the Camera Grip key, left click must also be held down to start camera movement.
Use Legacy Keys
Uses hotkeys from Dota 1.
Allow Windows / Command key to be bound
The Windows or Command key can be assigned to a hotkey.
Bind keys based on keyboard position
Useful for setting up keys on non-QWERTY style keyboards.
Enable Advanced Quickcast/Autocast Hotkeys
Enables explicit settings for quickcast and autocast.

Spectator/Replay Controls


Set hotkeys for controls when spectating games.

Copy Hotkeys from Hero Panel
Use the same hotkeys for spectating as normal gameplay hotkey settings.

Camera movement direction.

Stats Dropdown


These hotkeys are for the stats (hero level, last hits, networth, etc) dropdown and their sorting.

Change Sorting
Toggles sorting of stats lists.
  • From highest to lowest numbers
  • From highest to lowest numbers, by teams
  • Sorted by player order:
Radiant
  • Blue
  • Aquamarine

Clear Category
Closes the currently open stat window.
Kills/Deaths/Assists
Shows the current kills, deaths, and assists of each player.
Last Hits/Denies
Shows the current last hits and denies of each player.
Hero Level
Shows the current level of each hero.
XP Per Minute
Shows the current experience per minute of each player.
Current Gold
Shows the current gold of each player.
Net Worth
Shows the current net worth of each player.
Gold Per Minute
Shows the current gold per minute of each player.
Buyback Status
Shows the current buyback status of each player.
Fantasy Scores
Shows the current fantasy points of the match for each player.

Coaching


Coach Toggle Student Perspective
Toggles the perspective between the coach and the student.

Game


Auto Attack
  • Never
Hero will never auto attack units unless explicitly commanded to do so.
  • Standard
Hero will only auto attack after attack moving or casting a spell.
  • Always
Automatically move to and attack enemies nearby.
Auto Select Summoned Units
Automatically add new units to your selection group.
Double Tap Ability to Self Cast
Double tapping the hotkey or double clicking will cast the ability on yourself.
Smart Double Tap
Pressing alt plus a hotkey will attempt to self cast if possible.
Unified Orders with CTRL
Holding down Ctrl when issuing an order makes all units under control perform that action, even if not selected.
Teleport Requires Hold/Stop
Disables moving and casting when using Teleport Scrolls or Boots of Travel to prevent canceling a teleport in progress. The action is instead queued for after the teleport completes. The stop command is required to cancel a teleport when this option is checked.
Right-Click to Force Attack
Right-clicking on a friendly unit will cause your hero to attempt attacking it if possible.
Quick Attack
Pressing the attack command triggers it at the cursor`s location without requiring a click.
Quick Move
Pressing the move command triggers it at the cursor`s location without requiring a click.

Advanced Game


Summoned Unit Auto Attack
  • Same as Hero
Has the same auto attack settings as the hero that owns it.
  • Never
Will never auto attack units unless explicitly commanded to do so.
  • Standard
Will only auto attack after attack moving or casting a spell.
  • Always
Automatically move to and attack enemies nearby.
Disable Autoattack When Stop is Held
Units will not attack while Stop is held.
Toggle Autoattack Automatically
Hold forces Autoattack: Never and Stop forces Autoattack: Always.
Quickcast On Key Down
Activate when the button is pressed instead of when the button is released.
Shop Always Uses Hotkeys
Use hotkeys to navigate the shop.
Shop Search Gets Focus On Open
The shop search text will clear and be ready for input whenever the shop menu is opened.
Smart Attack Move
When the attack command is used, the selected units will target enemies nearest to the mouse cursor instead of nearest to the unit`s location.
Auto-repeat Right Mouse
Automatically right clicks when right click is held down.
Use Broadcaster Stats
When spectating a game, show the stats dropdown that the broadcaster is using.
Bring Dota 2 to front when match found
When a match is found, the Dota 2 client is automatically brought into the foreground on your computer.
Bring Dota 2 to front when pick phase begins
When the pick phase begins, the Dota 2 client is automatically brought into the foreground on your computer.
Enable console
Enables the console for advanced users.

Camera


Edge Pan
Moving the cursor to the edge of the screen will move the camera.
Reverse Camera Grip
Reverses the direction of camera movement when using camera grip.
Center Camera on Hero on Respawn
Refocuses the camera on your hero when respawned.
Disable Camera Zoom
Prevents zooming.
Hold Select Hero to Follow
Camera follows the hero when the Select Hero button is held down.
Camera Speed
A slider which adjusts camera movement speed.

Advanced Camera


Left-Click Activates Camera Grip
In addition to the Camera Grip key, left click must also be held down to start camera movement.
Enable Screen Shake
Some spells and stuns shake the camera.
Smoothdrag Camera when Spectating
Camera grip uses smooth motion when used while spectating.
Camera Deceleration
A slider which adjusts the speed at which the camera comes to rest after moving. Larger number means a faster stop.

Minimap


Use Simple Colors in Minimap
Use team colors instead of individual player colors.
Hide Minimap Background
Hides the map details from the minimap.
Use Simple Minimap Background
Uses an alternative minimap that shows the geometry rather than realistic terrain.
Use Extra Large Minimap
Makes the minimap larger.
Use Alt to show Hero icons
When Alt is held, hero icons are shown on the minimap instead of their name.
Invert Alt Toggle
Always shows the Alt held version of heroes on the minimap.
Show Minimap on the Right
Moves the minimap to the right side of the screen.
Minimap Hero Size
A slider which adjusts minimap icon size.

Social


Expose Public Match Data
Allows 3rd party websites such as Dotabuff and Yasp to gather data about your public matches.
Block party invites from non-friends
This setting can be used to prevent strangers` invites.
Hide party status when not in an Open Party
When in a party, others are not notified.
Do not auto-accept invites when in an Open Party
Manually accept or decline party invites when in an open party.
Trade invites from
  • Guildmates and Friends
  • Friends Only
  • Anyone

Network


Network Quality
  • I have a Low-end Network
  • I have a High-end Network
If you have a low end network connection, setting it to low may improve network performance.

Miscellaneous


Minimap Misclick Protection Time
A slider which adjusts the time before the minimap becomes right-clickable to prevent misclicks.
Double-Tap Self Cast Timeout
A slider which adjust the speed required to register a double tap.
Dynamically Scale Hero Icons in Minimap
Minimap icons change size when grouped close together to prevent overlapping.
Move after Ability Target Cancelled
Move when right clicking to cancel an ability.
Camera Color-shift when Dead
A black and white filter covers the screen when dead.
Display Network Information
Displays Frames Per Second, Ping, and Packet Loss on the top right of the HUD.
Hide Tips on Loading Screens
Hides gameplay tips.
Default Tournament Spoiler Block to On
Hide tournament spoilers by default.
