Trivia
- When sprinting in Water, you get a very minor speed boost, but it isn`t very noticeable. On the other hand, bobbing in water (holding down jump while swimming) gets you around faster.
- Sprinting and holding down jump at the same time (ie. continually hopping) makes you go faster on land, but drains your hunger bar more quickly.
- One of the fastest ways to starve is to Sprint in a plains area while jumping.
- The fastest way to get around is to drink a Potion of Swiftness while Sprinting and jumping on Ice.

Trivia
- Sprinting and holding down jump at the same time is usually faster, but actually becomes slower when under the effect of a high level speed potion.
- Sprinting and jumping while under a 2 block high ceiling causes a player to move at a speed almost twice as fast as regular sprinting speed, but it will consume a hunger point every second.
- This can be sped up even more by decreasing the ceiling height using trapdoors Trapdoor Transparency Yes Luminance No Blast resistance 15 (Wooden) 25 (Iron) Tools Renewable Yes Stackable Yes (64) Flammable Iron: No Wooden: No, but catches fire from lava Drops Itself Data values See Data values Name

Usage
Sprinting allows the player to move at around 5.612meters/second, 30 percent faster than the normal walking speed of around 4.317m/s. The player can turn while sprinting, which will slightly reduce their speed. Sprinting will also increase the speed of flying Flying See the form of transportation found only in Creative and Spectator modes. For the flight attainable when using the elytra, see Gliding. Notes
- ⃢₆ₑ If sprint is held, sprinting will last longer than 30 seconds.
History
- Before 1.0, sprinting and jumping while in a 2 block high tunnel or house caused a speed almost twice as high as regular sprinting speed. This is rather inefficient, however, as this can easily drain food at a rate of about 1 unit per second, but it proves an excellent form of transport when playing on peaceful, or if one has a large amount of food.
- Doing the same as above, except on top of₠Ice, allowed the player to move at an astonishing 16 blocks per second. That is₠twice₠as fast as a full speed Minecart on Powered Rails.
- Doing the same as above, but with Trapdoors just above the ice, one could travel 1000 blocks in 54 seconds (18.518 blocks per second).
- A Recent update to the Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition now allows the player to sprint.
