Mobs are affected by the environment in the same ways as the player: they are subject to physics Physics may refer to: The movement of entities - falling blocks, moving vehicles, and projectiles (including mobs launched into the air). The flow of fluids - lava and water, which can wash out or burn , and they can be hurt See damage in Minecraft. For information on health/hearts, see Health. Damage represents injury from attacks or natural causes. Players and mobs in Minecraft each have a supply of health points, which are minecraft by the same things that harm the player (catching on fire, falling, drowning, attacked by weapons, etc.). Some mobs may be resistant or immune to certain hazards, such as Nether mobs which are immune to fire. Each type of mob in Minecraft has a certain AI (Artificial Intelligence) system with different behaviors and mechanics. Mobs will ordinarily wander around at random if there is a player nearby and usually avoid walking off blocks high enough to cause falling damage. Many mobs have an advanced pathfinding system that allows them to traverse complex mazes to get to a desired object or destination. Overview

Most mobs are useful in some way to the player: Hostile and Boss Mobs often drop useful items, along with Experience Points when killed; Utility Mobs can protect players and villagers from Hostile Mobs, with the exception of Creepers (The downside being that they will sometimes attack Passive or Neutral Mobs too); Neutral and Passive Mobs can sometimes be tamed, other Passive Mobs can give beneficial items to players, given that they have the right tool (For example, Wool or Milk), and like utility mobs, Tamable mobs can protect the player from hostile mobs.

A large selection of enemy mobs all together.

    Utility

Utility Mobs are Mobs that are created by players and will attack other mobs. Utility mobs usually attack Hostile mobs, but can sometimes also attack Neutral Mobs, Passive Mobs, or the player if provoked. A notable exception is the Wither, which attacks all mobs except for undead mobs.
