Trivia
- In Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, before TU19, four gold blocks stacked on top of an obsidian block can be found inside the tutorial world`s desert pyramid. This is a reference to Achievement Hunter`s Let`s Play Minecraft series, in which this combination is used to create the ⃢₀ₜTower of Pimps⃢₀ (seen right), a structure first created by Gavin Free, which is now used in many episodes as a trophy.
- If one block was equal to one meter cubed, then one block of gold will have a mass of 19,300 kilograms.

Sources
Blocks of Gold appear naturally in Ocean Monuments, where eight of them can be found. They can also be obtained by smelting Gold Ore, and they are sometimes dropped after killing a Zombie Pigman in The Nether.
Mechanics
Gold is susceptible to destruction from TNT, and it only requires approximately 3 seconds to mine successfully. As with most mineral blocks, an Iron or Diamond Pickaxe is required.
Crafting
Blocks of Gold can be crafted by placing 9 Gold Ingots within a Crafting Table. A block of gold can be split back into 9 Gold Ingots by placing the block in a crafting table making them useful as storage blocks. 8 Blocks of Gold and an Apple are needed to make an Enchanted Golden Apple (no longer works). It is possible to make a more economical Golden Apple by using Gold Ingots instead, but these are not as powerful.
