Weapons are special cards Cards are the basic pieces that make up the game of Hearthstone. Each card represents an action that the player can take by playing that card. There are three main types of cards: spell cards, which can be equipped by heroes A hero is a character in the Warcraft universe representing the player. In Hearthstone, this concept is expressed in three interrelated but distinct ways: Heroes are gameplay characters representing players or bosses within a match.
. Each weapon has an Attack This page describes the act of attacking. For the Attack attribute, see Attribute. While a weapon is equipped, the hero`s Attack will be increased by an amount equal to the weapon`s Attack during their turn, and attacking while a weapon is equipped will reduce its Durability by 1. When a weapon`s Durability is reduced to zero, the weapon is destroyed. Weapons are the main way of allowing heroes to attack other characters.
Weapons can be equipped in several ways. The main source of weapons is from playing weapon cards, the least common of the three card types. Some spells Fireball, a simple mage spell. Hard removal describes cards and effects that can neutralize minions regardless of most defenses, such as high Health or Divine enemy minions, as well as dealing damage to the enemy hero. They can be used as tools for board control Board control is an unofficial term usually referring to a player s ability to keep the opponent from building up minions on the battlefield, or "board". Control decks are named after this strategy, aiming to control , or as additional burst Burst damage or burst potential refers to a player s ability to deal a large amount of damage in one or two turns, allowing a player to finish off a previously damaged opponent, or deal an damage for reaching lethal Lethal is a term used in Hearthstone to refer to damage sufficient to defeat the enemy hero, and win the game. Weapons are available for Warrior, Shaman, Rogue, Hunter, Warlock and Paladin classes. Additionally Priest can gain weapon cards in game by using Mind Vision or Thoughtsteal.
Since the Goblins vs Gnomes Card Set Blingtron 3000 has made it possible for every class to wield weapons.

- Weapons are only active or `unsheathed` during the possessing hero`s turn Hearthstone takes place in turns. Each turn gives a player the opportunity to act. At the end of each turn, play is passed back to the other player. A round describes one turn for each . - If a hero with an active weapon attacks another character, the weapon will lose 1 Durability. All heroes can equip weapons, and even weaponless classes can obtain them through certain neutral cards, or mechanics that allow them access to other classes` cards, such as Renounce Darkness, Spellslinger, Drakonid Operative or Golden Monkey. Currently only two neutral cards directly provide weapons: Blingtron 3000 and Medivh, the Guardian. Players can also use use copy or mind control effects to benefit from weapon-granting abilities on the opponent`s cards, such as Malkorok`s Battlecry, or Tirion Fordring`s Deathrattle.

Mechanics
Weapons have two values, Attack and Durability. Attack of the weapon defines the attack value of your hero while attacking with the particular weapon. Durability is the number of times the weapon can be used to attack before it is discarded. Note that Attack value of the hero (Yellow sphere on bottom-left corner of your hero image) and Attack value of the weapon (Number over the crossed swords on the bottom-left corner of the weapon) are different, which has some important implications.
Your hero has Attack value of zero during your opponent`s turn, even if your hero has a weapon equipped. This means that attacking your hero does not damage the attacker, unlike attacking a minion would do. When your hero attacks an enemy that has Attack value other than zero your hero loses health or Armor equal to the targets Attack value.
Becase the Attack value of your hero is different from the Attack value of your weapon Bloodsail Raider only benefits from the Attack value of your weapon. This means cards such as Heroic Strike and Rockbiter Weapon that give the bonus Attack to your hero instead of your weapon do not count towards extra Attack gained. Blade Flurry works in a similar fashion.
Playing a weapon card while your hero already has a weapon equipped discards the old weapon and replaces it with the one just played. Buffs such as Deadly Poison do not carry over to improve the new weapon.
General
Weapons give your hero a method of damaging the enemy, which unlike most spells lasts longer than one turn. This often translates into a visible threat of killing low health enemy minions securing board control to you. With the aid of a weapon your smaller minions can take out larger enemy minions and force enemy in turn to react to your heavier minions. In aggressive strategies weapons gain value by granting several damage instances that only cost mana once. One must be careful of overusing weapons, though, for the damage taken by hero attacking minions continuously may quickly exceed the benefits.
Warrior
Warrior Hero Power Armor Up! synergises well with weapon cards. Extra Hit Points in the form of Armor help to limit the damage Warrior hero takes when attacking enemy minions. Often Warrior uses weapons for removing enemy minions, as there are very few direct removal spells availabe for this class. Spiteful Smith with Inner Rage is a good way to gain a powerful minion and a strong buff for weapons.
Paladin
Paladin decks normally use Sword of Justice and Truesilver Champion but leave Light`s Justice out. Sword of Justice is mainly played for the effect of it, which at the cost of one durability gives +1 Attack and Health to minions summoned by the player when the Sword is in play. It is rarely used for attacking as it has rather weak Attack value of one. Truesilver Champion has considerable Attack value of four and it is often used similarly to Warrior weapons in removing enemy minions from the board.
Rogue
Rogue Hero Power Dagger Mastery equips hero with a 1/2 weapon. Using Deadly Poison to buff it to 3/2 is strong option and combining Blade Flurry to produces inexpensive board wipe. Assassin`s Blade is a strong stand-alone weapon and Perdition`s Blade is not weakest of the weapons either. Using Shiv to activate Enrage of Spiteful Smith is a reliable way to gain even more value of weapons. Generally Rogue does not need weapons for removal, but uses them to damage the opposing hero. Naturally the usage of weapons is not limited to that when opportunity and need to take down strong minions is present.
Hunter
Hunter playstyle revolving around Unleash the Hounds Beast combo has limited uses for weapons. Generally Eaglehorn Bow can be used before crucial turns six and seven to control the board and to bring enemy hero towards kill threshold of the UTH combo. Additionally popular secrets such as Freezing Trap have strong synergy with the weapon. In a more control oriented deck Gladiator`s Longbow has some usage as a removal tool, since dealing five damage while being immune allows one-shotting popular minions such as Sen`jin Shieldmasta or Chillwind Yeti.
Shaman
Shaman class speciality, the Totems, has no obvious synergy with weapons. Despite this the Overload mechanic provides good reasons for utilising weapons. Mainly because of mana available is often lower than the number of turns playing a weapon provides nearly certain way to deal damage over the next turns. Additionally the Windfury effect of Doomhammer gives Shaman players higher level of control over damage planning.
Warlock
Warlock gains its only weapon, the Blood Fury, by playing Lord Jaraxxus. Because Lord Jaraxxus has only fifteen health player must be very careful about inflicting damage to the hero.
