Strategy
Shamans are a very board control orientated class with a lot of cheap removal. They have a unique game mechanic called Overload, allowing you to play a card at a discount while paying the remainder the turn after. As a result, mana management and planning are crucial. They are also the only class that can bestow Windfury using Windfury or Windspeaker onto a minion allowing it to have incredible burst damage. Shamans have a wide array of spells that compliment both burst (Lava Burst, Rockbiter Weapon) and control play styles (Hex, Earth Shock).
Shaman`s Hero Power, Totemic Call, summons a random totem out of four possible choices: Stoneclaw Totem, Wrath of Air Totem, Searing Totem and Healing Totem. While each totem has their strengths, due to the random nature of the ability Shamans have to rely on a bit of good luck to get the right totem for the situation.

Another element unique to Shamans are cards that transform minions into an entirely new and random minion. Evolve and Master of Evolution transforms their own minions into a more costly minion, while Devolve does the opposite to their enemies. Although the effects are random, with proper setup their multiple high-cost, low-stat minions can turn into something else with stats and possible effects to better match their costs.
Counters
- Totems will be a continuous part of the game when playing against a shaman, especially the slower kinds. Try to control the number of totems, since they can give the shaman strong beneficial effects along with minion count. This is especially important when playing against Totem Shaman/Bloodlust decks. The totems can range from being 1/1, 0/2, or 0/3 so they are quite fragile and nonthreatening by themselves, but totems like Mana Tide Totem which allow an extra draw per turn will give an enormous advantage if left unchecked. Main Synergies
- Flametongue Totem can be used to get a lot of value out of totems created by the Shaman`s hero power.
- Unbound Elemental can very quickly get out of control when combined with cards with Overload.
- Rockbiter Weapon will effectively deal twice as much damage when combined with Windfury. Common examples include Al`Akir the Windlord or Doomhammer for a powerful finisher or board clear.
- Mana Tide Totem is best used when it can be protected by Taunt minions such as Stoneclaw Totem and Feral Spirit.
- Shaman`s low cost spells such as Lightning Bolt and Lightning Storm become very powerful when combined with Spell Damage minions such as Wrath of Air Totem, Azure Drake and Bloodmage Thalnos.
- Shaman`s Bloodlust spell combos well with many low cost minions in order to deal large amounts of damage on one turn.
Common Weaknesses
- Hunter`s Unleash the Hounds can often make having multiple totems a liability in the matchup.
- Shamans lack of healing often leaves them vulnerable to burn decks and finisher combos. Direct damage-based decks and combos are most effective against Shaman as Stoneclaw Totem and Feral Spirit can make it hard to push through minion-based damage.

Free Cards Acquisition
All of the cards that are of rarity Free can be won through normal play in the tutorial and Practice Mode. You always get two of them simultaneously because that`s the limit you can have in one deck. This is how you get them:
