Strategy
Power Overwhelming is a big buff to a minion, but because of its drawback the spell heavily reminds a removal spell. Possible uses are of the spell are to buff a weak minion to kill enemy problematic taunt minion or a minion that can kill one of your more important minions or even your hero. Also the spell can be used as a finisher, as the buff applies instantly leaving opponent no time to react.
If you use Power Overwhelming to eliminate a problematic target, you can Silence it by playing an Ironbeak Owl or Spellbreaker and negate both the stat boost and the lethal damage at the end of your turn, thus saving the minion at the end of said turn.
If a Priest uses Shadow Madness on one of your minions and buffs it with Power Overwhelming (gotten with Thoughtsteal or Mind Vision) the minion will go back to your hand before your opponent`s turn ends. The minion will remain buffed and alive until the end of your turn.

Notes
- As of Patch 5.0.0.12574 (WotOG patch), the minion affected by Power Overwhelming will always die when the turn ends, even if (and no matter how many times) it is stolen before or during the End of Turn Phase.
