Strategy

Black King Bar is a situational item recommended for any hero in need of protection from spells. A useful time to get BKB is when you`re a high priority target and need to stop the enemy team from focusing you down with too many spells.

Because Avatar`s duration and cooldown are tied to the user, buying a new one will not reset the values. The unit is stuck with what they have permanently.

An important example is Lone Druid. If Lone Druid has the minimum cooldown and duration, then gives his BKB to his Spirit Bear which hasn`t used it yet, the Spirit Bear will have the maximum cooldown and duration due to not having used BKB yet, since the values are tied to the unit and not the item.

Tips

• When facing a lot of magical damage or many disables, a Black King Bar alone can provide enough survivability, allowing carry heroes to focus on damage items after having Black King Bar.
  • Vice versa, Black King Bar is not effective against physical damage, or spell immunity piercing spells, so other items for survivability should be considered (e.g. armor items against physical damage, or escape items against some spells).

General

Black King Bar (also known as BKB) is an Armor item purchasable from the Home Shop. When the Avatar ability is activated, Spell Immunity and 100% Magic Resistance are granted to the user for a short period of time.

With every use the duration is decreased by 1 second, until it has reached the minimum duration of 5 seconds. The cooldown also decreases with use. Any new BKBs purchased will keep the cooldown and duration reductions.
